As part of helping develop the UWHS Climate Science curriculum, I worked
with Stephen Po-Chedley to put together a lesson plan centered on a table top demo of a terrarium to help students learn
about heat transfer and the Hadley circulation.

Simple energy balance (climate) model lesson plan
Stephen and I also created a lesson plan for high school
students to teach about climate models. We adapted LuAnne Thompson’s simple energy balance model so that students can try to
simulate temperature change in the past century and in the 21st century using radiative forcing kernels used in the IPCC.
The goal is to teach students how and why models are developed and to have them better understand the uncertainties
(human and physical) associated with climate change. An online version of the energy balance model can be found
here.

Pocket of open cells
As part of a final project for a class on science
communication, I put together a video on pockets of open cells
here.
