My PhD research examines the relative importance of the state of the sea suface temperature for midlatitude storms.

I am interested in climate dynamics, thermodyamics, air-sea interactions and improving the understanding of how weather links to (and/or becomes) climate.

I enjoy teaching. In Atmospheric Science, I have experience as an instructor for a freshman class on global warming, as well teaching assistant experience for undergraduate and graduate classes. As an applied math graduate student, I taught math as both a primary instructor and as a teaching assistant.

I believe that science for the sake of exploring new ideas and science for the betterment of society are one in the same.
