Below are links showing plots for the evolution of a random initial
condition in the 2D (x-z) Eady model. The "x-z loop" link shows an
animation of streamfunction in the x-z plan starting from a random initial
condition, and ultimately arriving at a state dominated by the most unstable
mode. The "energy plot" link shows a diagram of the total eddy energy,
which is flat for awhile, and then grows exponentially as the most unstable
mode comes to dominate the solution.
