Overview
I grew up in
southern California, where I attended Claremont High
School.
I left California to attend
Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. I
spent most of my time there in the department of
Chemical Engineering. I decided to pursue a combined
BS/MS degree in chemical engineering. During my summers I participated
in an REU in physics/optics at the University of
Rochester, an internship at the Laboratory for Laser
Energetics at UR, and internships at GE Lighting. I
also worked with Dr. Daniel Lacks on my MS project,
working with computational chemistry modeling programs
such as CHARMM and Gaussian 03 to complete my master's
thesis on computer modeling of polymer bond stretching
and scission on the quantum mechanical
level.
My passion for computer modeling and
lifelong interest in the weather led me to apply
for graduate programs in atmospheric sciences. I was
thrilled to be able to move to Seattle to work with
Dr. Chris Bretherton at the University of
Washington. As of 2010, I have just finished my first
year of studies and have started working on data
analysis of the VOCALS REx data obtained in 2008. I
look forward to working on this fascinating (and hopefully
rewarding) research topic!
