Glacial Tropical SST Controversy

It is quite important to know exactly what the tropical climate was during the last glacial maximum. Some evidence suggests that changes in tropical hydrology were important in terminations, for example. Since the tropics cover half Earth’s surface, the magnitude of the tropical SST change has a huge impact on estimates of climate sensitivity from paleoclimate data. Crowley(2000) has reviewed the evidence, and comes down right in the middle – no fun at all.
