So you wanna contribute to the blog...

 
 

The first step toward contributing is getting an invitation from one of the blog admins.  Don't know one?  Ask any of the contributors and they can get you set up.  One thing you can get out of the way before receiving an invitation is setting up a google account.  It will allow you to sign into blogger.com, the site that hosts our fair blog.  If you already have a google account, skip directly to STEP 8.

This is a short walkthrough for people invited to contribute to the voluntary climate action blog.

Welcome...

STEP 1: Surf to http://www.google.com, Click on ‘Sign in’

STEP 2: Click on ‘Create an account now’

STEP 3: Fill out the form.  Be sure to sign up with an email that you can check easily.  This will become the address you enter to sign into the blog.

STEP 4: Google will now send you a verification email.  Check the inbox of the email address you provided.  Click or copy and paste the link in the email google sends you.  This will verify your new account.  Be sure to remember your password.  Your username is the email address you provided initially.

STEP 5: Surf to www.blogger.com, sign in with your username and password.

STEP 6: Blogger will ask you to enter a display name.  This is the nickname that will be displayed when you post to the blog.  Choose wisely.

STEP 7: Next, a screen will appear asking you to name your blog and pick a web address for it.  Unless you want to create your own personal blog, STOP HERE.  Simply close your browser, sign out, or surf elsewhere.

STEP 8: Wait for the invitation email from an administrator.  It will look like this...don’t worry, I’ve only smeared out privy, irrelevant information.

STEP 9: Click the link after “To contribute to this blog, visit:”  Follow the instructions at blogger.com and you’ll eventually reach what’s called “The Dashboard.”  This is the jumping off point for posting to the blog...and where these instructions end.  If you need help hereafter, ask a contributor for help, or visit the blogger help page, http://help.blogger.com.  There are number of helpful categories on the page.  Good luck and happy posting!
