Using the Online Homework System

First Time Enrolling Online (Please do this asap.  If something goes wrong either email atms101a@gmail.com, or bring it up to us before/after quiz sections)

Open firefox and go to http://moodle.atmos.washington.edu/course/view.php?id=18

Click the link for Fall 2011, and then for this course

You will be prompted to enter your student login

You will then be asked to fill in your name and information, though your name is the only required part

Enrolling should require a keyphrase to get in.  The phrase is, 'snowpack'.

Once on the class moodle page, find and take the Practice Homework (remember, this has no impact on your grade, and exists just to work out the bugs in the system).

Once you have finished entering all your answers, hit 'Next', then 'Submit All and Finish'.  It will bring up a section where you can review your answers before hitting 'Finish Review' at the bottom of the page.

All future homeworks will be listed on the main moodle page in the same location as the Practice Quiz.

Important Info

Firefox is the only browser that works reliably.  There is a chance, when using other browsers, that your answers will delete instead of submitting without notifying you.  Use at your own risk.

Firefox is obtainable for free online at http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

The homework submissions will close immediately at the start of class on the date the homework is due.  After that, no homework submissions will be accepted.

The system only scores your most recent attempt.  We recommend you submit a few attempts early, not only to make sure you know what the problems are, but just in case something does go wrong, you at least have something submitted to grade.

As this does depend on an electronic system, Do Not Wait Till the Last Minute!.  We won't give extensions if your internet drops out or your computer hiccups with minutes to spare before the deadline.

Make sure with multiple choice problems to pick the answer with the most accurate reasoning in addition to the right answer.  No credit will be given if you found the right answer with faulty reasoning.

We recommend writing down any difficult answers so that if anything is lost it will be simple to fill back in.

Again, remember to use Firefox!
