Supplementary Material
Based on the first two Empirical Orthogonal Functions (EOFs) of the combined vertical profile of zonal wind and geopotential height over the tropics, we separate the components of the MJO onto its baroclinic and barotropic compoenents. This page contains some supplementary
material on this decomposition. For more details, see Adames and Wallace (2013a). A second decompostion is performed on the temperature and vertical velocity fields over the tropics. Supplementary material for these fields can also be viewed. For further reference see Adames and Wallace (2013b).
NOTE: This page is constantly being updated, and improvement to the current animations, as well as the addition of new ones is currently underway. Last Update 09/13/2013 -AFAC
