In Friday sections on February 25, you will be asked to select one of two reports to read and use for an activity we are calling a debate. It is a debate in the sense that we are asking you to learn from these two reports that present very different pictures of the impact on ecosystems resulting from global warming. For this activity you will read and understand one of the following reports. We will be organizing you into groups so about half of you would read each one. However, you would benefit from reading the executive summary of both reports. If you miss section, please contact your TA and he/she will tell you which one to read based on a need to evenly distribute the "sides". Before class on March 4, you should prepare a sheet with several main ideas/arguments presented in the report that you read. In class on March
4 you will be allowed some time to discuss you ideas first with classmates
who read the same report and then together as a whole group.
Also, 7 points will be earned for attending the debate, 7 for handing
in the outline of points of argument as described above, and 6 for oral
participation. These points will be part of assignment #5.
